Stay calm, you can now order a two-door Range Rover
A London-based design company will hand build you a Rangie Coupe
Remember the £240,000 Range Rover SV Coupe that JLR announced in 2018 and then canned earlier this year? Well, if the news of its death left an intriguingly shaped hole in your life then all of your worries have been solved.
That’s because London-based coachbuilder Niels van Roij Design has announced that it has started work on the Adventum SUV Coupe - a two-door Rangie that will pay homage to the first-generation of the ultimate SUV.
After its launch back in 1970, the original Range Rover was only available as a two-door for the first 11 years of its life. In fact, if you wanted a pair of back doors back then you’d have to commission them from a specialist firm.
Now in its fourth generation, the Range Rover has come full circle. If you are desperate to get those rear doors removed, Niels van Roij says that 100 production slots will be available for this conversion.
It won’t just be exterior changes that customers ask for though. It seems as though the company expects some pretty outlandish interior requests.
“Anything is possible,” says its confident founder Van Roij. “From highly-polished woods, personalised tread plates, extraordinary one-off colour-coded leather hides in chic patterns to sophisticated handcrafted embroidery. Even Tweeds and exotic materials not normally found in the realm of automotive design can be applied by our team of craftspeople.”
Of course, that kind of work doesn’t come cheap. The two-door Rangie will start at between £275,000 - £375,000. Blimey.
Niels van Roij’s last project was that gorgeous Tesla Model S shooting brake though, so the big Brit is in good hands. Thoughts?
