Koenigsegg has broken its own 0-400-0kph world record

Jesko Absolut gets up to ridiculous speed and back down again in just 27.83 seconds

Published: 01 Jul 2024

Back in May 2023, Rimac announced that it had set a new 0-400-0kph record with its all-electric Nevera hypercar. The 1,888bhp EV had completed the acceleration and deceleration sprint in 29.93 seconds, taking the crown from the hybridised Koenigsegg Regera.

Of course, Koenigsegg wasn’t having any of that, so late last year it dug out the Regera from cryosleep and reclaimed its title with a time of 28.81 seconds.

Now, the bonkers Jesko Absolut has gone even quicker. Yep, the new world record for this particular feat is a time of 27.83 seconds. Oh, and the super slippery Absolut set three more world records in the process. The 1,578bhp hypercar did 0-400kph in 18.82 seconds, it did 0-250-0mph in 28.27 seconds and it did 0-250mph in 19.20 seconds. Good grief.

The Jesko Absolut was driven by Koenigsegg test driver Markus Lundh in the very early hours of 27 June. We’re told wind speeds and the ambient air and track temperatures were perfect at 5am, so it was an early start for poor Markus. Probably didn’t need an espresso to wake himself up after a brief stint in the Jesko, though.

The car was apparently standard save for the addition of a roll cage and the driver’s seat from a One:1. It was running Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 R tyres and E85 fuel. Interestingly, there was no mention of the recent do-not-drive order for Jesko owners after a car caught fire in Greece, but Koenigsegg has already issued its findings from an investigation that concluded a hydraulic hose leak was probably the cause of the fire.

Anyway, you can watch the incredible video of the record run below, and it’s worth mentioning that Christian von Koenigsegg says they have done lots of preparation for a 310mph+ top speed run. We cannot wait to see that happen.
