NASCAR driver has hilarious reason for not doing burnouts
Ryan Blaney reveals his highly amusing no burnouts rule, brings house down
We missed this when it happened earlier this month, but it’s tickled us now we’ve seen it: turns out there’s a very funny reason that NASCAR driver Ryan Blaney doesn’t celebrate his wins with burnouts.
Well, usually. The 29-year-old Team Penske driver made an exception for the Talladega crowd when he took the chequered flag at the YellaWood 500 a few weeks back, later explaining that he was “really, really excited” to have claimed the win.
And no wonder! You can see from the finish line image above just how close it was between him and Kevin Harvick in second place...
Anyway, that prompted someone in the press room to ask “Why don’t you do burnouts?” “Oh, you don’t know?” Blaney asked, before explaining: “Dale Inman pulled me aside one day and he said ‘Hey, you don’t see the winner of the Kentucky Derby get off his horse and start beating the **** out of it.”
Cue much laughter and knee slapping. “So that’s why I don’t do burnouts!”
You can watch his highly amusing explanation for yourself in the clip below. Imagine if F1 drivers were allowed to be that honest?
