What should I be paying?
Prices start at £46,640 for the Exclusive-Line trim (we know, odd name for an entry-level spec), and as standard you get 18-inch wheels, heated folding door mirrors, auto LED lights and wipers, a reversing camera with front and rear sensors, leather seats (heated up front) and a heated steering wheel plus cruise control, eight-speaker hi-fi, dual zone climate control and a head-up display.
A 12.3-inch driver display and a central screen of the same size are included too, as are Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. That’s one heck of a haul.
Note it'll set you back £2.5k or so to step up to the AWD diesel, a car that is undercut at all levels by the plug-in hybrid. Which is unusual. Even the lesser-powered diesel is £60 more than the PHEV, and you can only have that with the entry-level trim.
Still, if you’re set on splashing a bit more cash then Homura is the mid-level spec, priced from £48,170. This adds 20-inch wheels, gloss black exterior highlights, ambient lighting, the Driver Personalisation System overlord, electric seats (ventilated in the front, heated out back) and a 12-speaker Bose hi-fi. The 2024 update also altered this trim to add Nappa leather for the seats, fancier lining on the roof and extra bits of metal trim.
Then there’s the top-spec Takumi from £50,740. This benefits by heaping on some more chrome, leather and wood trim, but nothing else substantial. We’d go entry- or mid-spec, and spend our days laughing with mirth at BMW X3 drivers who’d need to spend £10k more for stingier kit levels.
Mazda also does a variety of option packs: a Convenience and Driver Assistance Pack adds 150W and 1,500W AC sockets on the PHEV, a 360-degree camera, rear privacy glass and wireless smartphone charging, plus a suite of safety systems and adaptive LED headlights for £2,100. Want a panoramic sunroof? That’ll be another grand. Also, any colour other than white will cost you £650-900. Ouch.
Service intervals for the CX-60 are every 12 months or 12,500 miles, whichever comes first. If you're a company car buyer, the PHEV qualifies for an eight per cent Benefit in Kind rate.
