What should I be paying?

Little known fact: every Ferrari comes as standard with a seven-year maintenance package that passes on even if the car is second hand. Service intervals are 12,000 miles (or annual, whichever comes first). The Superfast is a car that would encourage you to drive it that often. Because you don’t sit too low in it and because the engine is in front, the experience is more grown up, more daily useable than more exotic mid-engined alternatives.

And it looks calmer, too. Maybe have it in a subtler shade than Giallo Modena and drive it everyday. Guarantee that no matter how often you use it, that V12 engine will never feel less than utterly, intoxicatingly, addictively special.

If you’re buying an 812 and aren’t concerned about the £262,963 entry price, it’s safe to assume that an extra few thousand of options won’t make you baulk. So what follows is for everyone that can’t afford an 812 but wants to experience that warm glow of realising that options standard on a mid-range Golf add many thousands of pounds here. Here are a few examples: alcantara boot carpet (£960), carbon fibre parcel shelf (£2,880), carbon door panels (£4,320), carbon fibre underdoor cover (£5,664), matt silver forged wheels (£5,668).
