Stop what you’re doing! Aston’s one-off V8 Cygnet is up for sale
Available for the first time ever, the world’s littlest supercar could be yours
Your chance to own the littlest supercar of them all has just appeared out of the blue, because the unhinged 4.7-litre V8-powered Aston Martin Cygnet is up for grabs for the first time.
Built as a one-off by the boffins at Aston’s Q skunkworks division in 2018 and maintained by Aston since then, the V8 Cygnet is essentially a shrink-wrapped Vantage S, with all of its 430bhp sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed paddle-shift auto.
The perfect supercar for a condensed city then, especially as it must be ULEZ compliant too.
0-62mph is dealt with in just 4.2s, and given enough room you’ll be clinging on for dear life at 170mph. At least you’ll have 330mm brakes to bring the madness to a stop. Power-to-weight comes in at 313bhp/tonne.
At this point, you may ask if it actually has anything in common with the standard Toyota iQ (sorry, Aston Martin Cygnet)… and the answer is no, not really. Just panels, glazing and lights, apparently. This one has a more exposed face, phat carbon wheel arches, a two-pipe exhaust and 19in forged alloys wrapped in PS Cup 2 rubber.
It even gets the Vantage’s front and rear subframes and a gorgeous ‘Buckinghamshire Green’ finish to bring it all together.
The cabin includes a roll cage and a carbon dashboard, plus a pair of Recaro seats teemed in Alcantara leather. There’s functioning climate control, too, so it’s not completely Spartan.
No price has been given, but if you head to the V8 Cygnet's listing on Nicholas Mee & Company (click on these blue words) and hit 'reserve now', you'll be asked to pay a deposit of £11,250.
That'll feel like small change once you've totted up the ULEZ savings...
