Here are 10 used Bruno Sacco Mercs we found for sale this week

To celebrate the legendary Benz man's work, we thought we’d take a different spin on this week’s used car roundup

Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC
  • SL55 AMG (R230)

    SL55 AMG (R230)

The last car designed by Sacco, and what a thing it is. Perched beneath that elegant silhouette is AMG’s 5.4-litre V8 jackhammer, sending 493 furious horses to the rear wheels. This one has around 90,000 on the clock, wearing a Jasper Blue Metallic coat. Stunning.

  • 560 SEC (W126)

    560 SEC (W126)

Or, for almost double the price you can settle for a 560 SEC. This white example hails back to a time when long, boxy shapes were the go-to thing, complemented so well by those half-yellow-glazed lights at either end. Undoubtedly his greatest piece of work. He even said so himself.

  • E320 (W124)

    E320 (W124)

A bit less mafia ring leader and a lot more civilised corporate worker, this E320 Estate could be yours for a fiver under £10,000. We’ll give you one attempt to guess how much mileage it’s covered… nope, you’re quite wrong. It’s 174,000. Barely run in, then.

  • 190 Cosworth (W201)

    190 Cosworth (W201)

And we’re certain you wouldn’t have guessed this 190 Cosworth has almost covered moon miles’ worth of tarmac in its 35 years of being, either. That’s been piled up by one owner by the way. It’ll need a bit of mechanical work, but that’s a small price to pay for an example that wouldn’t look out of place in Mercedes’ heritage fleet.

  • CLK55 (C208)

    CLK55 (C208)

Big bug eyes, slightly curved spokes on the alloys and a brawny body to bring it all together. We are, of course, talking about a first-generation CLK. This one’s also claimed to be a Silverstone Special edition with around 400bhp on tap, so it’ll go just as mightily as it looks. Probably.

  • S600L AMG (W220)

    S600L AMG (W220)

A long-wheelbase version of what can be considered to be the first of the ‘modern’ S-Classes. The meaty 500-ish bhp V12 makes it a masterclass on how to land-yacht, but perhaps the most incredible thing is how much of the tech is still modern by today’s standards. It goes to show just how far ahead of its time the W220 was.

  • E55 (W210)

    E55 (W210)

Similar in design to the aforementioned CLK, albeit simmered into a more business-y saloon profile is this 50,000-mile E55. It’s got the traditional silver paint finish, the huge central arches on the alloys and chromed accents dotted around the exterior. Best shelve those plans for a new loft.

  • SL600 (R129)

    SL600 (R129)

    A two-tone SL600 V12. That is all.

  • 280CE (W123)

    280CE (W123)

So far, we’ve been mostly showing you spruced-up versions of Sacco’s best, but our penultimate entry this week is the W123. It doesn't have a massive engine that binge-drinks or boast any aggressive styling cues - it's just a simple, three-box, delightfully simple Benz. Take this 53,000-mile 280CE as a prime example.

  • Wildcard: SL65 AMG Black Series

    SL65 AMG Black Series

A fitting wildcard, given it’s the ultimate version of Sacco’s swansong car. It’s also the only Black Series product to come from one of his designs. If you can convince your other half to ditch the loft for an E55, you should have no trouble getting them to agree to a remortgage to cover the purchase of this example.
