The new 2,031bhp Venom F5 Evolution will do 0-200mph in 10.3s

Bigger blowers, more aero and new suspension for Hennessey’s speed machine

Published: 16 Apr 2025

What to give the car that has everything? More. Welcome to an ‘evo’, American-style: this is the uprated Hennessey Venom F5 ‘Evolution’, and it has enough power to shift tectonic plates.

Probably. Nestled within this F5’s fresh suit of armour – more on that shortly – lurks an exceedingly dark heart. Hennessey has taken its 6.6-litre twin-turbo V8 nicknamed ‘Fury’, removed the puny human twin-turbos, and replaced them with Really Big Scary Ones.

They’re via Next Gen, and are apparently the largest ‘mirror image’ turbos in the world. Stare into them and the secrets of the universe will be revealed, or at least that receding hairline. This type apparently allows for better symmetry in such applications. Here, it allows for massive power.

Like, 2,031bhp. A full 214bhp more than the regular F5. To quote Martin Brundle, that’s enough to power a very decent family saloon. The 214bhp bit, not the 2,031bhp bit. 2,031bhp is enough to power a small moon mission.

Here, it’s enough to power the Venom F5 Evo from 0-200mph in just 10.3s. The upgrades aren't all just Put A Big Turbo On It And Pray, though: there are new oval-shaped aluminium pistons and aluminium connecting rods, lightweight titanium exhaust valves, and larger high-flow fuel injectors. Classic, old-school tuning right there.

Hennessey reckons it’s the world's most powerful combustion engine ever fitted into a road car, delivering not just that 2,031bhp headline, but a full 1,445lb ft of torque, too.

Attempting to harness all that power is a new suspension setup which comes via adjustable dampers and modes that cycle through pre-set ride, handling, roll, pitch and steering settings. Modes include Sport, Road Race, Drag, Wet and “the full power F5 Mode”.

You might require all the Venom’s newly fashioned aero and additional downforce to help when in said full-power mode. It’s been designed in collaboration with F1 and IndyCar aerodynamicist Dr Mark Handford, and incorporates a gigantic new front splitter that'll double up as a snow plough come winter, and a full underbody redesign. There are louvres on the front wheel arches, and a new Gurney lip on the rear spoiler deck.

Which is all fine and dandy when you’re at ten tenths at COTA, but what about just… dailying it? There’s a set of ‘Touring’ options, including more comfortable seats, a sports exhaust, heck, even a carbon fibre drinks holder.
