This one-off 911 GT3 RS is a tribute to Jo Siffert and the first race-winning Porsche 917

Siffert’s family was involved in the creation of this one-off GT3 RS. Eventual buyer will be chosen by a raffle

This is the Porsche 911 GT3 RS Tribute to Jo Siffert, and if you’re a fellow retro racing nerd then you’ll immediately recognise the livery. Because this car has been designed through Porsche’s Sonderwunsch programme to replicate the look of the first race-winning 917. As a result, it is completely excellent.

Siffert and Kurt Ahrens won the Zeltweg 1000km at Austria’s Österreichring in 1969 despite the 917 being notoriously tricky to drive in its very first season. That car wore the number 29 and featured green front wings with Bosch and Shell sponsorship.

The livery has been matched here with a Pure White body and Viper Green flanks. Both colours are part of Porsche’s paint to sample palette, and on the B pillar there’s a little badge with Jo Siffert’s helmet and signature.

On the inside you get plenty of Race-Tex in Black and Guards Red, plus helmet motifs embroidered in the headrests and 917 silhouettes

Siffert sadly died in October 1971 when his BRM crashed during the World Championship Victory Race at Brands Hatch, but he remains a cult hero in Switzerland, and his family was involved in the creation of this tribute.

“To witness the creation of this Porsche in honour of my father was extremely exciting,” said Philippe Siffert, who competed in Formula Ford and Formula 3 in his own racing career. “With painstaking attention to historical details and craftsmanship of the highest quality, the employees of the Porsche Sonderwunsch Manufaktur have transformed an already rare 911 GT3 RS into an absolutely unique piece – infused with the spirit of Jo Siffert.”

The GT3 RS Tribute to Jo Siffert will remain a one-off, and after registering interest the buyer will be selected at random from a raffle. Reckon someone will put up the funds if we enter ourselves?
