How do you like the McLaren 750S in its special MSO paintjob?

New ‘Spectrum Theme’ paint offers a striped fade in either blue, orange or grey

Published: 02 Aug 2023

McLaren likes to follow up the release of every new model with a special MSO (McLaren Special Operations) paint scheme. And although the 750S may not look like a completely new creation, it has still been treated to the fancy shades and brush strokes.

So, say hello to the all-new ‘Spectrum Theme’. Offered exclusively on the 750S, this striped fade uses seven different shades of blue that apparently required “development of all-new paint colours and bespoke mixes for each segment of the Spectrum.”

Oh, and it’s not just blue. You can have the theme in orange or grey too, or if you want to spend even more money you can have a completely unique colourway.

It’s not just the jagged fade across those dihedral doors either. The darkest two shades seamlessly blend into each other around the back of the 740bhp supercar, and there’s a little surprise on the underside of the active spoiler too – you can have an MSO logo under there or a completely contrasting paint colour. Nice.

We’re told you can combine the exterior paint with “further MSO bespoke personalisation” too. Because of course you can. That apparently includes colourful leather trim, bespoke dedication plaques and hand-painted MSO logos on the door sills that also feature the Spectrum fade.

So, what do we think folks? Is this an option box you’d be ticking on the 750S configurator?
