Prices for the new, Samurai-spec Nissan Qashqai start from £30,135

The pioneering mass market SUV gets a fresh suit of armour and hybrid power

Published: 24 May 2024

Following last month’s reveal of the new, Samurai-spec Qashqai, Nissan has revealed the hugely popular SUV will cost from £30,135.

And Nissan's already starting building it, with production in Sunderland starting earlier this week. One QQ will roll off the line every two minutes, believe it or not.

The Acenta Premium is now the entry-level trim (yep, the Visia’s been scratched). Most folks will opt for the £32,305 N-Connecta grade. A couple of grand more gets you into the brand-new N-Design trim that adds body-coloured skirts and fancier 20in alloys.

The range tops out at Tekna+ that costs £38,875 - a trim that used to be north of £42k.

In terms of what all of that is buying, you're looking at a choice of two hybrid powertrains - mild or full (the latter what Nissan like to call 'e-Power').

The updated design uses more aluminium body panels - 20 out of the total 41 on each Qashqai, to be precise. That gives the car a weight saving of 60 kilos over its predecessor, and should mean better fuel economy, improved handling and increased planet-friendliness.

The brand’s also kitted out the cabin with more tech. In addition to Google integration, there’s an enhanced park assist, where eight cameras give your other half every chance to avoid kerbing your pretty, new alloys.

Last November both e-Qashqai and the all-electric Juke were confirmed for UK production, though Nissan has yet to reveal when it’s bringing 100 per cent battery power to the Qashqai. It has spent a whopping £30 million upgrading the plant in preparation. It's also confirmed production of the all-new Leaf will start in August, trialling the new production line kit for six months before everything ramps up.

Order books for the new Nissan Qashqai open in June.
