Start the engines, Jock! Alpine will sport a special Indiana Jones livery at the US GP

Alpine’s designers come up with a slightly disappointing map-based design. They chose… poorly

Following on from its Deadpool & Wolverine livery back at the Belgian Grand Prix, Alpine has announced that it’ll run a special Indiana Jones look at this weekend’s United States Grand Prix in Austin.

Rather than being inspired by Harrison Ford and the Indy films, though, we’re told that this look celebrates the adventurer and archaeologist’s return in the “first-person, cinematic action-adventure game” Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. And no, apparently ‘the Great Circle’ doesn’t refer to the Indy 500. Shame.

Anyway, the new look sees the Alpine A524 wrapped in an ancient map design that’s finished in a sunset orange colour to match the franchise logo. Said logo appears on the side of the car, and both Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly will wear matching world map race suits. It has to be said, we were hoping for a little more. Heck, where are the snakes?

Still, Alpine will be hoping that Jones brings them some luck over the weekend, because at the moment the A524 is definitely not writing itself into the history books. Alpine currently sit ninth in the constructors’ championship with just 13 points scored all season, so it’s safe to say this season’s car will not belong in a museum after its retirement. To quote Willie Scott from Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom: “We’re not sinking, we’re crashing!”
