This off-roading EV estate from Subaru has no name (in the UK)

Subaru's new Trailseeker is an off-roading EV estate, but it might not be called that here

Published: 17 Apr 2025

Subaru has unveiled the all-new Trailseeker, its all-electric off-roading estate. Well, we say Trailseeker, but we’re told "the moniker for Europe and the UK has yet to be confirmed".

The all-new 2026 Subie NoName has been designed as an EV from the get-go, going beyond simply an electric version of the Outback. Its sleek headlights and solid grille hit the current design trend right on the head, and the deep black plastic wheel arches help maintain that practical, 'ain't-no-mountain-high-enough' rep.

Unsurprisingly then, the NoName gets Subaru's ‘symmetrical all-wheel-drive system’ and 210mm of ground clearance. It's powered by a battery (size not specified) that'll last 260 miles on one charge.

Subaru has reeled off a mighty list of driver assistance technology, with all the usual suspects – such as blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control and traffic jam assist – making an appearance. And inside, the cabin has a 14in infotainment screen with phone mirroring support for Apple Carplay and Android Auto. There are also wireless charging and rear USB-C ports for folks in the back. The tech game is most definitely on.

Elsewhere, there's also a refreshed Solterra. The headline upgrade is the new lithium-ion battery, carrying an extra 25 per cent range thanks to the new battery pre-conditioning system, and supporting up to 150kW rapid charging. By heating the battery on the way to the charger, it can achieve a 10-80 per cent recharge in less than 35 minutes.

Other changes include new headlights, a tweaked front end, a new rear badge, rear spoiler and newly designed wheels. The updated Solterra will also get the same cabin tech and driver assist package as the NoName.

We expect both models to arrive next year, with the Solterra leading the way. The specs? There'll be more info closer to launch – so plenty of time to decide on that name, then. What do you think it should be called?
