It's the new Nissan 370Z Nismo!

Published: 26 Aug 2014

Nissan's revised 370Z Nismo is coming to Europe after all. We first showed you the nipped'n'tucked Zed back in May, when it seemed destined for the US only.

Happily, European sales have now been confirmed and you'll be able to buy one from September.

The big changes are mainly cosmetic, with the highlights being a redesigned front bumper - which incorporates extra cooling and the obligatory LED daytime running lights - and a smaller, more pert rear spoiler. It's integrated into the bootlid rather than looking like the tacked-on affair of the outgoing Nismo 370Z, which has a whiff of aftermarket tuner about it.

As well as looking fresher, the new bumper and spoiler also work hand-in-hand to improve the go-faster Zed's aerodynamics, with a significant increase in downforce. Nissan promises it is spread more evenly between each axle of the car, too, improving the handling balance.

That should help compensate for the fact its 340bhp 3.7-litre V6 engine remains unchanged, with performance identical; the 0-62mph sprint takes 5.2 seconds while the top speed is limited to 155mph. The rear wheels continue to be driven via the sole option of a six-speed manual gearbox with fancy rev matching on downchanges.

Suspension improvements are intended to provide ‘improved ride quality and reduced cabin noise', which is ideal for those looking for a bewinged GT car, but not quite what some may have in mind for a car that shares its DNA with the bonkers Nismo GT-R. Still, a weakness of the outgoing car is its long-distance comfort, so a little extra refinement ought to be welcome.

A new RAYS alloy wheel design and some cosier Recaro sports seats complete the makeover.

Prices are yet to be decided, but expect the current Nismo 370Z's £37,015 to grow little in a pretty competitive market - one that's set to gain a new pugilist thanks to the freshly Europe-focused Ford Mustang, which could cost as little as £30,000 in 310bhp four-cylinder form.
