Trident Iceni news - Pants on fire? - 2008

Published: 21 Jul 2008

Remember that kid at school who made ridiculous claims about everything? You know, "my dad's a bare-knuckle fighter" or "my cat has eight fingers on each paw"?

Well, that kid has grown up and built his own car. It's called the Trident Iceni. And, if he's to be believed, it has a 6.6-litre diesel V8, 550bhp and will crack 60mph in 3.7 seconds. Oh, and it'll do over 200mph. Honest.

Want a few more ambitious claims? How about fuel consumption? It's claimed that the Trident will do 70mpg at a steady 70mph. Or 108mpg at 30mph. And, with a full tank of diesel, you can "travel around 2000 miles without needing to fill up".

Presumably it'll have an 80-litre tank, so therefore be bought exclusively by people who enjoy driving their 6.6-litre V8 sportscar everywhere at 30mph. For 2,000 miles.

The boot is nice and big too, we're told. It has space for "luggage and golf clubs - enough for a two week holiday". Which is a shame if you're off somewhere for three weeks. And don't play golf.

So come on, bare-knuckle boy. Put your money where your mouth is. Let's see it on the road. 'Cos if this thing really achieves all of that, we'll show you a cat with 32 toes.

Or we'll just be very impressed.
