Aston Martin DB5 news - Buy Bond’s Aston DB5* - 2010
James Bond's Aston Martin DB5 is going up for auction tonight. Yes, the very same one Sir Sean Connery piloted in Goldfinger. That one.
It has all the gadgets, is one of only two ever made (the other is AWOL) and is in perfect working order. Only there's a little snag: it could go for up to £4 million.
Tonight's annual Automobiles of London RM auction will see Bond's DB5 being propositioned more times than a Korean GP hotel manager, and will feature alongside a Pagani Zonda R, Ferrari F40, Jaguar E-Type, and a frickin' helicopter piloted by Pussy Galore (see our rather exciting preview of it here).
Top Gear drives Bond's actual Aston DB5
We tried to speak to Shir Shean to find out why the DB5 is so massively famous, but we only got his answerphone (and, erm, got slapped with a restraining order). So we found the next best thing: a Corgi toy replica!
Yes, friends. If you haven't got £4 million - and we suspect many of you haven't - you can buy a mini-Me DB5. Corgi spokesman Martyn Weaver told TopGear.com: "To buy a Corgi DB5 is the only time that most of us will be able buy an Aston Martin, and a true piece of cinematic history."
It’s £3,999,86.01 cheaper than the real thing, and it’ll fit on top of your mantelpiece. Altogether now, 'neeeeeaaaooowww'...
