You've got to hand it to Audi for its determination to stick to folding soft-tops.
Quite apart from bucking the hard-top trend, and therefore being far cooler than any of the coupe-cabriolets, they also look far, far better. Which is important in a poser's car. And it also means the whole roof thing can fold much quicker as well.
In an A3 Cabriolet, it's especially fast because the boot doesn't have to have any clever double hinges for the roof to fold into, nor does the roof take up any extra space once it's stowed. Press the button, and it all just drops straight into a section above the boot.
What this does mean, though, is that the boot itself is a seriously bizarre shape. The door doesn't have any upper section - it's shaped just like an enlarged letterbox for you to post your luggage in.
That's fine from an aesthetic point of view, but for stuffing bags in, even small shopping bags, it's a pain.
It hardly ruins the car (the 1.8 TFSI engine is really great by the way), but seeing as one of the major points of a folding soft-top is its added practicality, this kind of spoils the USP of the car.

I don't like this car. It has the image of a Ford SportKa and the practicality of my much cooler 20-year old Mini, and by the sound of it, the same boot, too.
